War in Ukraine, Who Will Win?
Does anyone ever really win in war?
My Dear Readers,
This is Thursday night and the rumbles of war are thundering half a world away. As video streamed during Tucker Carlson’s show on YouTube tonight, the person streaming put up a poll with a simple question: “Who will win the war? Russia, Ukraine, or the United States?
I did not vote. I did not look to see the tally; for I do not believe anyone ever wins at war.
There was no selection for the answer I wanted to provide. Who wins at war?
No one.
Growing up in a Strategic Air Command B-52 pilot’s home
In vague shadows of my memory, I recall a blue U.S. Air Force bus coming around our neighborhood in the early 1970s. It stopped at our house. In his flight suit and carrying his green duffle back and B-52 helmet bag, my dad got on board and left for Viet Nam.
When he came home, we met a KC-135 on the tarmac of K.I. Sawyer A.F.B. and eventually Dad descended from the plane to greet us.
He left again a year later to return in special ops flying USAF Hueys. Dad got shot down once. One of his gunship gunners got killed on Dec. 4, 1971. One shell came up through the floor, between Dad’s…
