The head of SMU's Writer's Path program used to tell us when a person writes novel much of the text becomes a release of "full-frontal nudity of the soul." So on her book tour stop here in Dallas, I asked Ottessa how much of My Year of Rest and Relaxation was "full-frontal nudity of the soul?" Without missing a single beat, she responded, "There's definitely some side-boob action going on." When she signed my copy she wrote, "Donny, best of luck in your writing! Stay nude! Ottessa Moshfegh."
