Thanksgiving’s Prize Recipe

There’s no such thing as a normal day, even if you’re in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Antarctica, or here in the United States.

Live all your days with thanksgiving! Photo by Ylanite Koppens

This is the prize recipe for a wonderful Thanksgiving. The primary ingredients are you!

Be in the moments of the day. Stop. Sit. Listen. Look. Taste new things. Breathe in deep. Remember those stimuli. Write them in the Notes section of your phone so you can come back to them on a day that’s full of dark clouds.

Savor the smells.

Hug as though you may never see family members and friends again.

Take photos. Lots of them. Serious and goofy. Selfies and of others. This is the only day you will ever be this young again. Don’t forget to smile!

Laugh. Like Santa. Loud! Or chuckle if that’s more your style. And through your laughter, fill the halls.

Cry — those onions and butter and celery for the stuffing! Departing friends and family who you only see once or twice a year. It’s okay to show your emotions. They need to know how important they are to you. Every day. Not just today.

Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the warmth and comfort of your home. That is, unless you happen to be in NYC…
