Living Off-Grid Without Electricity
A month without power in the woods changes your priorities.
Living without electricity turns your world upside down.
Twenty-seven days ago my Great Pyrenees, Maycee, and I began camping on family land in Upper Michigan without electricity and many other conveniences.
But I would say that not having plugs for my computers, phone, iPad, C-PAP machine, even the Black and Decker 12 volt drill, has turned the way we are living upside down.
Trust me, if you’re reading this from the comforts of home, you’re likely not aware of the impact going a month without electricity can have on a person’s lifestyle.
But in this crazy world where we live, where there is the potential for terrorist attacks on our power grids, blackouts and rolling blackouts where your state’s electrical supply is tapped cos of the heat, where bad acting countries are trying to hack our power supplies, where a hurricane or tornadoes can up end your life in a matter of seconds, my suggestion is that you consider what you would do.
Right now. Just for giggles, consider this.
The power in your just went off and it’s not going to come back on for maybe three months.
