J.J., thank you for posting such a piece, but I struggle to this day with using Wikipedia as an ultimate attribution resource. And with the revisionist history that has been going on in the US for the past quadrenium, at best, I can appreciate your making the effort to refute age-old accountings of past human events. In this period of time, where the woke are tearing down statues, questioning whether Thomas Jefferson or George Washington were good persons or not quod they might have had slaves, etc. I'm just more cautioous than I would have been two-to-four years ago. And believing anything from a "learned scholar," requires a check into their own past to understand their interprative bias. I mean not to discourage you. Your writing is short and to the point. Also, as an effort to help, please note in the "Back in the lovely year," paragraph, you have "starting behaving a bit...odd." My assumption is you meant "started" instead of "starting." Keep up the good work. I'm not discounting your piece. I would like to have seen some further authoratative sources than Wiki.
