I heard the DA talking today and while she doesn't sound in any hurry to reach a conclusion, she said investigations could take months. In her mind, Baldwin is not by any means in the clear. The sheriff made that clear today, too. You are right and I agree with your assessment that when it comes down to it, the person who pulled the trigger was Baldwin. Of the alleged 16 people who handled that weapon, all of them would seem to have contributory culpability. Baldwin, likely with the deepest pockets, if he does not charged, I expect him to face one to two civil lawsuits. One from Mrs. Hutchins' husband, and one from her family. And I would expect discovery depositions to go back even beyond Cook's Assistant Loganoff of the Red October, way back in 1988-89. If you recall, Baldwin goes climbing around in the forward missile bay and uses 9 mm instead of the old pistol fired last week. But Baldwin will get asked by someone, "What training did you receive about guns then? Can you recite the four rules of handling any handgun?" And on it goes. If the DA can establish that as well, oh boy. Now I agree, there will be some Hollyweird Leftist nut jobs who might try to spring him from charges, fund his attornies, who knows. But if facts trickle out suggesting he's likely to be charged with manslaughter and face time, I would refer you to the John Lennon song from while living in LA: Nobody Loves You When You're Down and Out. A jury pool in Santa Fe, NM isn't necessarily going to be too sympathetic to Baldwin because of his color or his film history. But if it comes to it, Santa Fe is likely the best place he or anyone else involved could hope for a fair trial.
