I am not a member of the American news media, a private citizen these days. Brought up by a B-52 bomber pilot who spent many years on alert ready in case the Go Code came. I wanted to be a journalist in school, but became a spokesperson for two governors and three school districts in my adult life. What I have seen is a compassion of sorts for the people of Russia. In the respect that they did not and most likely do not support Putin's rise to power. With what the U.S. government and NATO allies have done via sanctions on Russia, we are unfairly punishing the suppressed Russian. In America, there also is growing alarm, too, over the consequences of what our own government is doing to pull the wool over our eyes. Our own government is inflicting pain because of what's being done in your country, despite all the bad things happening under President Biden's lack of leadership here. So, there are actually three edges to the sword in this case, but I hear your point. It makes sense. But as you know about point-of-view, it is different from each perspective.
