Ah, who doesn’t love the life of their side hustle, or full-time job creating content on the internet?

You wake up late, make breakfast, take the dog out, walk around the block, come back and take a 30-minute bubble bath. About noon you open your computer and in 15, maybe 25 minutes you write a new, mind-blowing story for Medium, and publish.

Within minutes, things are “bumpin!’” One-hundred readers leave a comment on your post. A few minutes later, one-thousand more do the same. In 30 minutes, the count is at ten-thousand reads. Not views, but actual reads from writers on the platform.

Thousands more read every word of your story. In the meantime, Medium’s home office schedules a delivery from Office Depot so they can prepare a foam-core check highlighting the millions you’re raking in this week.

Bliss!

Except for most internet creators, things do not work like that.

As a fledgling writer here, on my website, DonaldJClaxton.com, and my three newsletters on Substack, each day brings a bombardment of distractions.
