After 35 years of work in public relations, I sold most all I own, put my books and what was left in storage, and spent 13 weeks tent camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My 8-yo Great Pyrenees, Maycee came with me (That's us in the logo silhouette.)
To support myself, I share my exciting experiences here on Medium. I've also begun making and selling custom, handmade wooden crosses from maple, oak, and pine trees from our Michigan family land.

Hey, I’m Donald J. Claxton. Friends call me Donny.
In my early professional life, I have almost 35 years of experience as a communications consultant. As a kid, my dad was a B-52 instructor pilot in the US Air Force, so we moved many times.
Since 2014, I have written three draft novels. My summer adventures in Michigan's UP gave me many new ides to approve a book about the area. My curiosity and love of writing makes me keen on observation. There are few whom I cannot walk up to and start a hearty conversation.
